The Greatest Showman features one of the most diverse casts I’ve seen in a musical. Bonus points for the cast being actually able to sing, too. Certainly a spectacle of a movie, with great performances and dazzling showmanship (minus the CGI animals). But for all its praise, the biggest problem with the movie is that it doesn’t focus on what makes it great.
America is violence. America is sex. America is immigrants. America is a hodgepodge of all combined. Bryan Fuller & Michael Green’s tv adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name is a surreal and fantastical journey through America as it tackles its gods… both old and new.
May is just around the corner. And what’s so special about that month? May is Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! After six long months, The Get Down: Part 2 has come to our televisions and Netflix-friendly devices. Just like Part 1, Part 2 delivers the same gorgeous cinematography, excellent music, and heart-wrenching plots.
